Dogs of all breeds and sizes compete against the clock, pulling sleds over a snow-covered course across four weight divisions; 0-25 pounds, 26-50 pounds, 51-75 pounds, and “heavy weight” at 75 pounds and over. Prizes are awarded to the fastest competitor in each division with a trophy for the overall winner.

The entry fee is $25 per dog and includes a goody bag for the competing pooch. Check in begins at 12:30 and the races begin at 1:00 PM

Participants and spectators will have the opportunity to win great prizes through a raffle with proceeds directly benefiting the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. Over a dozen of prizes are up for grabs with more to be added, including cross country and downhill ski tickets, rounds of golf, gift certificates to local retailers and restaurants, and much more. Raffle tickets are just $1 each; those who buy five raffle tickets will receive a sixth ticket for free. Winners do not need to be present to win. Raffle tickets may be purchased at the event, prior to the drawing.

RULES:

1. At no time are dogs allowed to enter the building. Please bring a friend to hold your dog if you must go inside. Dogs are not to be left tethered and unattended.

2. You must clean up after your dog.

3. Any dog who poses a danger to people or other dogs will be asked to vacate the premises and will not receive a refund

4. All dogs must be up to date on their shots and healthy.

5. No sign ups after 1p.m.

6. All dogs must be leashed unless it is their turn to run.

7. Bribe your dog with whatever it takes on race day, but pulling on your canine during the race is immediate disqualification.

8. If your dog breaks through the snow fence it is disqualified.

9. All dogs will pull 50% of their weight

10. Please be as accurate as possible about your dog’s weight. Otherwise you better be able to pick him up for a “weigh in” if someone challenges his weight.

11. When your dog is in harness and the whistle blows he must get the entire sled across the finish line as fast as possible.

12. There will be a prize for each division and a grand prize for the overall best time.

13. Any tied times will be asked to run again

14. Lastly, remember this is for a good cause and all in fun so let’s be good sports and may the fastest dog win.
